FORMULATOR
DATABASES
Large
databases of relevant information can be used as a resource to populate
key FORMULATOR™
data fields. Clients with
files that have already been used with other software including raw
materials, formulas and other key data useful in FORMULATOR
functions can be, and have been, converted to FORMULATOR data files.
Other databases can be mapped to FORMULATOR
data structure and, using unique import and export tools, set up to
allow FORMULATOR
users to selectively import and export
data (see INTEGRATOR).
The first database using
INTEGRATOR
tools
set-up to allow users to selectively import data, was the USDA
Nutritional
database which is available as public domain.
It is currently supplied with the
Nutritional
Version of FORMULATOR
at
no additional charge.
The
Principals of
William Andrew Publishing
and
FORMULATOR
Software, LLC jointly provide software and database
content for the chemical, cosmetics, and drug industries. Databases from William Andrew are being integrated into the FORMULATOR
Lab Book Software package. This will allow users to easily
transfer raw material, formulary and regulatory data directly into FORMULATOR
data tables saving considerable time and effort.

Sittig’s
Hazardous Chemicals Database - This is a
compilation of about 1,600 raw materials and their critical
Hazardous Chemical information for MSDS authoring in REGULATOR.
The CD is installed on the user’s computer that has
access to FORMULATOR™
software. The
location of the database is identified in the CAS FORMULATOR
file General tab and
on a one-time basis an index is built by the INTEGRATION
tools supplied with the Hazardous
Chemicals Database INTEGRATOR.
The user can then import CAS data alone or the CAS
data and also create a new raw material.
The Sittig’s Hazardous Chemicals Database does not
include all information needed for a MSDS, but does include
about 80% of the information including some hard to find
jurisdictional data and sourced warnings phrases. |

Database of Cosmetics &
Toiletries Formulations – This is a collection of more than 10,000 starting
formulas and their raw materials with % weight formulations and
in many cases preparation procedures and identifies the
supplier(s). Does
not include the INCI names (which can be found cross referenced
on the CTFA Suppliers Guide web site). The CD is installed on
the user’s computer that has access to FORMULATOR software.
The location of the database is identified in the
Formulation Maintenance General
tab or the Raw Materials Maintenance General
tab. The user can
then import formulas and their raw materials or raw materials
alone and procedures where available. |
|

|
Advanced Cleaning Products - This database includes approximately 3,700 formulations
with more than 700 new formulations added in the latest release.
Integrated with the Chemical and Cosmetics versions of FORMULATOR. Can be
used on the same system with the Cosmetics Database.
Functions are the same as the Cosmetics Database. Suitable
for Researchers, Formulators developing products for new
cleaning materials applications and start-up ventures entering
the cleaning materials field. |

Paint & Ink
Formulations Database – This updated database includes more than 2,500
starting trade sales and industrial paint and ink formulations
with their raw materials from multiple industry sources.
The formulas in the database are not quantified in the
data tables. The
user can select the formula(s) to be imported.
The formula and raw materials will be entered with a zero
(0) quantity. The
user must then open PDF files cross referenced and supplied with
the database and either cut and paste or manually enter the
amounts, procedures and QC test criteria.
Since the density of the raw materials is not supplied,
the integration can be set-up to default to a Specific Gravity
of 1 and the user can change the materials to the correct SG.
It is recommended that the formulas be entered in weight
until the raw materials density is confirmed.
