FORMULATOR™
Lab-Book
is a limited version of the core
FORMULATOR™ suite module. It is designed for Formulation Chemists and Food
Technologists who only need a limited set of functional software to
create, modify and document raw materials and formulas in an electronic
data base and output a formula on a batch card to run a test batch with
the assurance of full data logging. It has all of the functional data base
features and functions to create multiple units of measure, calculate
properties and nutrient facts, formulate in weight, volume, % and quantity
sufficient, switching between methods with a click of the mouse. It will
calculate cost based on raw materials only and allow limited cut and paste
features. Comments notation and project control is included.
Lab-Book can
be upgraded to
Lab-Book Plus and modules added without loosing any of the
data and information developed in
Lab-Book. |

Lab-Book Features: Raw material maintenance includes all of the functions of the full FORMULATOR™ module except inventory functions. Nutritional functions are added when the nutritional module is purchased. Formula Maintenance is complete with the exception of Quality Control procedures and documentation of Quality Control tests and results. Inventory is a separate module. Regulatory information is documented as part of Lab-Book. Product Label, full Cost Analysis, Tree View Editor, Ingredient Search and Replace, CAS Maintenance and Additional Raw Material and Formula Data are NOT included, but can be added with the Lab-Book Plus upgrade. |
Set-Up Features: All FORMULATOR™ Set-up features except Additional Data Fields are included with Lab-Book. This includes Company and data default, user security, Physical Property definition, units of measure (weight and volume) conversion logic and scale-up logic. Nutritional Set-up of Nutritional Definitions and Allergen Definitions are added with the Nutritional module purchase. Maintenance: Data Update, Database Maintenance, Formula Instruction, Class & Sub-Class, Status and Equation Maintenance are all included. Upgrade to Lab-Book Plus adds cost analysis features for Packaging, Labor and Overhead and Quality Control test and phrase functions for full QC documentation and test data capture.

| Reports & Listings: Lab-Book outputs reports and lists of data types including raw materials, Formulas, comparison of formula results (based on physical properties), instructions that are common to multiple formulas, classes and related sub-classes, physical properties, equations and units of measure conversions and scale-up. Nutritional definitions are added with the Nutritional Module upgrade. |
Lab-Book Upgrades & Add-On Modules: The most common upgrade will be to Lab-Book Plus. Lab-Book can be purchased as a single user or multi-user ACCESS product or as a multi-user SQL product with takeaway licenses or in a hub and spoke configuration. The nutrient module can be added to any configuration as can REGULATOR™. Lab-Book with REGULATOR™ is a valid choice for those that just want to use FORMULATOR™ for MSDS development and output. INTEGRATOR can be added for accounts that just want a Lab-Book add on to their ERP application. Those who are interested in Accounting integration’s will require Lab-Book Plus with Quality and Production Manager and Inventory Manager. |
